Compassionate Resonance: A Soundbath for Stillness

"Sounds of Compassion" offers an immersive sonic journey where small shifts in listening and presence open pathways to deeper connection and healing. Guided by Farida Meguid’s alchemy bowls and Michael Sgarlata’s live instrumentation, participants are invited to pause, soften, and experience how vibration and melody can nurture compassion from within. In tuning ourselves to balance and calm, we plant seeds of change—simple acts of self-care that ripple outward into our relationships, communities, and the wider world.

The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center has been fostering whole-person care since 1955. Through programs, research, and community partnerships, the Institute explores the connections between spirituality and well-being, creating spaces where healing, meaning, and compassion can flourish.

Meet the presenters

Farida Meguid draws on 20+ years in yoga, dance, and healing arts to guide her sound bowl practice. Certified in Alchemy Sound Healing since 2017, she uses vibrational therapy to calm the nervous system and restore balance. Her sessions invite grounding, spaciousness, and deep connection in body and mind.

Michael Sgarlata is a sound facilitator and live musician with over a decade of experience creating music for healing and connection. Trained at Berklee and Musicians Institute, he blends guitar, flutes, harmonica, saxophone, and voice into immersive soundscapes. His offerings honor each space and client, opening pathways for transformation through intentional sound.
