With Gratitude for a Joyful and Hope‑Filled Gathering

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Compassionate Houston’s 15th Anniversary Luncheon. This milestone year was a celebration of connection, courage, and the growing network of compassion we are building together across our city.

The theme of the day — Creating Change, Cultivating Joy — came alive in the room. Many guests shared that they left feeling lighter, encouraged, and renewed. In a time when the world can feel heavy, our gathering offered a reminder that compassion continues to illuminate the path forward.

 

A Message That Moved the Room

Our keynote speaker, Karen Walrond, offered a deeply hopeful and galvanizing message. She reminded us that we are not responsible for healing the world alone — but we are responsible for carrying the torch of goodness, healing, and love from those who came before us to those who will follow. Her words grounded us in the truth that small acts of compassion, tended faithfully, ripple outward in powerful ways.

Throughout the luncheon, there was a palpable sense of belonging — a feeling that each person present was part of something larger than themselves. Together, we are shaping a connected archipelago of compassion across Houston, one relationship and one courageous act at a time.
