Compassion Resources
We are creating this space to share diverse resources on compassion. As we discover quality sources of information and support, we will add those to this page.
THE MANIFESTATION OF COMPASSION THROUGH VISUAL AND LITERARY ART
As a network built on collaboration and shared vision, Compassionate Houston is delighted for the honor to share this exhibit by WiVLA (Women in the Visual and Literary Arts), an organization known for its collaborations by creative women!
Born in 1994, WiVLA, has held a collaboration almost every other year. The 2020 collaboration was on the theme of COMPASSION. A total of 19 pairings of visual and literary artists explored this theme, so dear to our own hearts. In partnership with Holocaust Museum Houston, the exhibit first appeared on the Museum’s website and WiVLA’s exhibition catalogue.
Please visit WiVLA’s website to order the full catalog, which offers all visual and the full written pieces. You can watch the virtual exhibition on the Holocaust Museum’s website here (click the arrow on either side of the image to enter).
One of the reasons we are so excited about this exhibition and collaboration with WiVLA is that the artists' expressions of compassion add value to what we are teaching in Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT) and to current understanding of skills such as compassion, empathy, common humanity, etc. In the coming weeks, we will be using this resource to share examples of specific CIT skills and how they are demonstrated in the artistic and literary pieces of WiVLA’s Compassion project.
This exhibition is being shared courtesy of WiVLA and Holocaust Museum Houston.
