What is Compassionate Integrity Training?

Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT) is a unique and transformative learning experience. It guides participants through 10 distinct modules, each dedicated to developing specific compassion skills and tools. These modules act as compasses, leading individuals on a journey to cultivate compassion through three interconnected series, each exploring a different aspect of human interaction.

The exciting quest begins at the individual level, progressing sequentially to interpersonal and organizational/systems levels.

CIT is not just another personal development program:

It is a comprehensive training that draws inspiration from the cutting-edge research worlds of neuroscience, psychology, trauma-informed care, peace and conflict studies, and contemplative science. It builds upon the groundbreaking work of renowned authors Daniel Goleman, author of 'Emotional Intelligence,' and Peter Senge, as well as initiatives in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and other relevant fields.

Testimonials

CIT helped me identify blind spots in my empathy for others, and to notice the assumptions I make about others, especially those who may first appear to be different from me. It has expanded how I see commonalities and interdependence with others, and how we all – including ourselves - benefit from the practice of compassion. The course’s focus on meditation, self-reflection, and self-compassion helped strengthen my meditation practice, and that in turn makes me less reactive and more able to be a kinder person in the world.

In short, CIT made me want to become a better person, and gave me some tools to do so.

Pam and Barbara were excellent facilitators, presenting the material clearly and knowledgeably, always steering the course with gentle encouragement and support. Les Prebilsky - Spring 2025

I am very grateful I took the class and that I am practicing. I have definitely seen a difference in my life. Stacy Daniels

Thank you for the fine presentations for your spring CIT course. It was well worth the time and cost.

I learned a lot that has already helped me in my life journey, and I recommend it to anyone serious about the compassionate path.

--John K. Graham, MD, PhD, DMin, President Emeritus, The Institute for Spirituality and Health. Spring 2025

Your presentation of a mixture of visual images and exercises opened so many doors to how I think, my assumptions and the way I want to move forward in my life. I am a reader by nature, and your class stimulated a whole new path of literature - always exciting for me. Your class inspired me to think beyond my comfort zone. Katy, (enthusiastic CIT participant who attended two courses!)

Compassion Integrity Training has helped me heal as a recovering workaholic. I learned how to forgive others from long ago, and to lay those burdens down. The CIT practices became ingrained. I am getting a certificate in compassion, and my spouse says that I deserve it. Ken Shilling
