Deep Resonance: A Contemplative Viola Interlude offers a sanctuary of sound designed to quiet the mind and foster deep inner stillness. Hosted at the historic Live Oak Friends Meeting House, this 30-minute Compassion Week session pairs the warm, deeply human tones of a solo viola with the architectural brilliance of its world-renowned James Turrell Skyspace installation.
The featured viola soloist is José Piña, a Mexican-American violist and educator from Galveston, Texas, currently based in Houston. He serves as an Artist in Residence at Covenant Church Houston and believes music is ultimately about people.
